Established in 1892, the Williamstown VFD is comprised of 24 volunteers and a paid fire chief.
The department serves an area of 65 square miles in the central portions of Grant County. The department provides first responded EMT response to all major medical calls within its coverage area to assist both the DRFD and TransCare ambulance units. They provide full fire suppression, rescue and other general alarms coverage. The department currently has a class 5 ISO rating in the Williamstown city limits and a class 8B in the rural areas.
