Daughters of the American Revolution
The mission of the Daughters of the American Revolution is to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. The group's motto is "God, Home and Country."
AdsThe Capt. John Lillard Chapter meets from September through Tune at 10 am on the second Saturday at the Grant County Deposit Bank (next to Tractor Supply.)
The chapter recognizes outstanding teachers of American history. The Community Service Award is presented to a worthy resident of unpaid voluntary achievement in cultural, educational, humanitarianism, patriotic, historic and citizenship endeavors.
Williamstown and Grant County High schools faculty select three high school seniors who best demonstrate the qualities of a good citizen in their homes, schools and communities. From these three students, selected by the faculty, the senior class selects by vote, the senior to be the school's DAR Good Citizen. The DAR chapter entertains the entertains the recipients from the two schools at a luncheon and presents the first place winner with a $200 scholarship and the runner up with a $150 scholarship.
The commanding officer of the ROTC program at GCHS recommends a student cadet who has demonstrated loyalty, patriotism and earned a record of military and scholastic achievement during their participation in ROTC programs. The chapter presents this individual with a medal and a monetary award-Chapter members shower the residents of Fort Thomas Nursing Home with needed gifts during the holidays.
