Extension Homemakers
Grant County Extension Homemakers clubs have been around since 1947. Homemakers are celebrating 75 years in Kentucky and homemakers are affiliated with die Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service. Grant County Homemaker clubs have a strong tradition in this county and offer many opportunities for personal growth in leadership skills, educational experiences and social interaction.
AdsCurrently, there are 10 homemaker clubs that meet in Grant County. Meetings are held during the day and in the evening. In addition, there are mailbox members who receive the information presented during the Homemaker club meetings, but do no attend monthly meetings. There is also the possibility of forming new clubs to accommodate a particular community or group of people.
Homemakers are involved in a variety of activities and opportunities. Each month, homemakers meet at a scheduled location to discuss the business of the club and have an educational lesson. Clubs also participate in fund-raisers, community service activities, cultural events, environmental issues and international concerns. Two scholarships are given to a graduating Grant County High School and Williamstown senior each year and scholarships are avail¬able to adults continuing their education. All are welcome to join a local homemaker club.
