CETA visual arts and crafts

Kentucky artists and arts organizations are working to provide significant, personally meaningful arts opportunities and activities throughout the county and serving as a means for understanding and interpreting our heritage and surroundings.

CETA (Community Enrichment Through the Arts), a non-profit organization promoting visual and performing arts, invites participation in its annual juried fine arts and craft show, Autumn Arts Fest. Held in a beautiful, tree-shaded park just one mile off I-75 in Crittenden, Kentucky. The festival includes a variety of fine art and crafts, excellent musical entertainment, food concessions, a local children’s art show, artist demonstrations, Shakespeare plays, there's always a CETA event going on in the area.

The organization also sponsors other events during the year. Past and present events include Children’s Summer Theatre Workshops, An Evening in the Park: Art, Music & Story, and Madcap Production Puppet Theatre. Such events provide for the Dry Ridge community a wide variety of experience through visual art, music, dance, drama and literary arts.

CETA provides community experiences in visual art, music, dance, drama, and literary arts to enhance appreciation for the arts and nurture individual creative endeavor among our area’s citizens, from the very young to the very old. Sometimes local talent is in the spotlight; at other times you'll have a chance to view the work of artists from across the state.

Grant County Schools and CETA are also sponsor of the “Community Book Read” to encourage participation in a community book read because of the emphasis such an activity places on literacy throughout the community. Joining together and reading the same book invites conversation in the home and workplace about the story and brings attention to the obvious choice readers have made to spend their time engaged in reading. This is a wonderful example for children to follow.

A special feature – the CREATIVE CHALLENGE – encourages personal expression. Each month a theme or concept is suggested and all are invited to make a response, using the method of their choice – painting, drawing, sculpting, music, writing, etc. At the following month’s meeting those who wish can share the results of their efforts with the group.
