Winery tours by appointment. Pick your own blackberries in July and August. Jimmy Barker's winery was the first established commercial winery in the state of Kentucky, in business since 1990. Mr. Barker does not, however, grow grapes. They make most of his wine from blackberries, offering people a unique alternative to other Kentucky wines. They sale Blackberry Wine: Dry, Sweet, Semi-Sweet; Cherry Wine; U-pick (hybrid thornless) Blackberries and very unusual Mead (Honey) Wine. This winery offers the best berry picking and offers group tours and raspberry picking. Save your room for blackberry pie. Opening hours and group tour:Offer wine tasting daily year round from 8 a.m. till dark (call first). If you want to purchase wine, you need to visit on Monday through Saturday. Group tours of winery are available by appointment. 'He-pickers' and 'she-pickers' (don't laugh, that's what Jimmy calls 'em) will find plump, juicy berries in July and August.
