Eagle Creek Learning Center is an extension of Grant County Middle School and Grant County High School and services students from grades 6 to 12 who have been determined to benefit from an alternative educational setting. Academic challenges are met by offering independent study - a process that allows students to move at their own pace and encourages self-discipline -- with the constant support of hands-on instructors. In addition to the head teacher, students also have available to them the services of a special needs teacher, a counselor, and two instructional assistants.

In addition to establishing academic goals, the staff at ECLC works with students on setting goals in other life-impacting areas as well. The structure of the instruction allows opportunity for individual and group counseling sessions to help students with their specific needs. Much attention is devoted to helping students overcome obstacles that stand between them and success.

The Eagle Creek Learning Center is in place to help students who might otherwise become discouraged and give up on their education. Most students stay at ECLC just one semester, then receive assistance as they transition back into the traditional classroom. The semester at ECLC provides the structure necessary to allow students to re-focus and re-establish themselves on their educational pathway.

Attendance at ECLC may be by parent and/or student application, or students may be assigned there as a result of an administrative hearing. Space at the center is limited. Students or parents who think they (or their child) would benefit from this setting should contact the counselor at their respective school for additional information.
